Personally, the thing about traveling is that I am a believer in the whole ‘When in Rome’ thing. When I am in a foreign country, I want to go local. Food-wise. I have a heightened sense of curiosity whenever I travel and local cuisines are always pique my interest. Especially when said local cuisines are served with delicious ice-cold mojitos.
This is exactly what you get and then some at Sarong; a trendy, stunning restaurant and bar in the heart of Seminyak. There is an undeniable cool vibe from this place from the decor to the music to the open bar where cocktails are made with precision. Mojitos are served in a tall steel cup with a lean sugarcane stick that you can chew on as you sip the perfectly-made beverage.
The menu consists of local favorites that have been given a fresh spin by founding chef Will Meyrick alongside traditional Indian dishes. The result is well-executed food that you can’t help but want to stuff your face with. There is a depth of flavor that makes most dishes go beyond just mere satiation. Not all the dishes that we ordered were stellar. A couple weren’t very special. But overall, this was one of the best meals I had in Bali and one of the most fun. This is a great place for a date night or with a group of your favorite people.
