Ann Demeulemeester Black Wool Asymmetrical Coat

Asymmetrical details are very prevalent this season and with good reasons, they are a fantastic not to mention stylish alternative to the tried-and-tested straight button plackets. They look modern and yet have such clean lines that they won’t go out of style. Sleek details will always be appreciated.
This 100% wool coat looks great and packs a sartorial punch too. Its asymmetrical button placket is a breath of fresh air while its pop-up brown buttons offer a subtle contrast to the black of the coat while at the same time offering up texture. I don’t know about you but the brown buttons make me want to run my fingers over them.
The chest pocket and 2 side pockets round up

Jil Sander Chalk Stripe Shirt

by Nicolas
Jil Sander Chalk Stripe Shirt

We all know that white shirts are essential to every man’s wardrobe and besides white, I think black and darker tone shirts (navy, grey etc) are requisites too. They are flattering, slimming and they have the added advantage of concealing spills and accidents. Which is why I am a big fan because I am as clumsy as they get.

This slick shirt will be a fantastic addition to any wardrobe. The detail is simple and yet arresting – a chalk stripe hiding the button placket that provides all the contrast you need from the great dark grey tone of this wool piece.

I am also won over by its slim, clean fit and its subtle tones. Wear this to work …

Maison Martin Margiela: Look, Study, Read

by Nicolas
Maison Martin Margiela: Look, Study, Read

Maison Martin Margiela is coming to a book store near you. Set to be released sometime next month, this starched white muslin book will contain shots of his illusive career. With contributions from fashion luminaries such as Jean Paul Gaultier and Carine Roitfeld, this book will also showcase Maison Margiela’s forward-moving and often avant garde exhibitions.
With his furniture line and now this book, Maison Margiela is slowly but surely making his way not just to your wardrobe but your book-shelf and your home. That works for me – I could always use more Margiela in my life.

Jergens Shea Butter Skin Enriching Moisturizer

I ran out of moisturizer a few weeks ago and I picked this up at the drug store. It was cheap, contained Shea Butter (a great natural ingredient) and came in a handy pump bottle so I just grabbed it without giving much thought.

The smell is the first thing you notice; it’s got a light nutty scent. Neither too cloying nor over powering. It lingers too because the tee shirts I wear to sleep smelled quite nice the next day.

This moisturizer glides on easily and skin is left smoother and softer after just a few days of usage. It stays on your skin to provide 24 hour hydration which is always a good thing. With some products …

Thrifty Flavors: Charles & 1/2 Fleece Moto Jacket With Hood

Asymmetrical zips have been big and present the past two seasons. And this light jacket with hood will get through the wetter and colder months before it’s time to grab thicker coats.
I like the amount of detail on this motorcycle-inspired piece. With studs, zips and slanted pockets; this gives off an air of relaxed cool. I especially like the zip detail at the cuffs of this jacket. Shows the attention to detail.
I especially like how the front lapel opens up to a V and continues on its asymmetrical ways. Adds another degree of detail.
Get this for US$54 at Urban Outfitters.

St. Ives Apricot Scrub, Renew & Firm

by Nicolas
St. Ives Apricot Scrub, Renew & Firm

I’ve been a fan of St.Ives products ever since I was in high school and I started using this scrub when I was going through my tanning salon phase. Back then, I was a little obsessed with having a great tan and would go to the tanning bar every other day. Needless to say, I had a good, deep tan but my skin was suffering. It was dry and showing signs of premature aging. I noticed lines around my eye and mouth area; it was a good wake-up call.

I started using this scrub religiously and within a week, I could see those premature lines diminishing and my complexion getting brighter and more even. My skin also felt smoother and softer.

With its signature apricot

Mc Lee

Cathy Horyn of The New York Times sat down with Alexander McQueen (affectionately known as Lee) for a chat and the result is a diving-board from which to jump deeper into the world of the enfant terrible.

From success to his personal life to the future of the McQueen brand, this makes for a good read. Enjoy! The New York Times Style Magazine.

Clinique Acne Solutions Post Blemish Formula

The brown marks left by pesky zits is my primary skin concern right about now along with blackheads but at least I know how to deal with blackheads. The post-inflammatory marks on the other hand leave me frustrated and annoyed. I have tried everything – from masks, to spot creams, to spot patches to peels, to lasers. The only thing I need now is patience; which is always easier said than done.

I need patience and during my patience period, I did some shopping and I picked this up at the Clinique counter because I figured I had nothing to lose. Turns out, patience and this post-blemish formula was what I needed to fade those marks.

This is specially formulated

Dermalogica Age Smart Renewal Lip Complex

by Nicolas
Dermalogica Age Smart Renewal Lip Complex

I discovered this wonderful product when I was dealing with the aftermath of my petroleum jelly allergic reaction. My lips were cracked, flaky, red, inflamed and dehydrated. Needless to say, it was very uncomfortable. My mom was recommended this lip balm a while ago and she told me about it and I decided to pick it up at the store.

In less than a minute after application, the tightness in my lips were gone and I felt this cool relief and with continuous use, my lips looked healthier and smoother and hydrated.

This transparent, odorless balm glides on smoothly and provides a natural sheen (akin to applying Vaseline).

It contains Vitamin E to fight free radicals and a soothing blend of …

Robert Geller Fencing Shirt

by Nicolas
Robert Geller Fencing Shirt

I’ve always thought fencing was fun; the quick stab and the intense sabre-play. I never tried it though but I think I would probably be focusing more on having sabre meet my opponent’s than actually trying to win the round. You know, to have that cool clinking sound effect.
This shirt was inspired by the art of fencing and it shows off in its distinct asymmetrical button placket. The curve placket is simple yet arresting with quiet undertones. The back shoulder yoke adds to the inspired detail.
The top buttons are best left unbuttoned to show off the subtle draping of the mandarin collar. Get this for US$255 at Blackbird.

Mr: Roland Mouret

by Nicolas
Mr: Roland Mouret

Roland Mouret has over the past seasons garnered a cult like following. Hence it is not surprising his decision to extend that to menswear that jumps beyond himself as fodder. Mr, the Roland Mouret line (launched next year) isn’t simply just a brand extension but a project resonated from a  meticulous thought process.
His love for clean, sleek lines and simplicity can be seen in the above jeans and croc-printed sweater. For a snippet of what to expect from the upcoming line, head to Dover Street Market in London and 10 Corso Como in Tokyo; both have a capsule collection of key pieces: knits, shirts, jeans.

The new Ipod Nano

by Nicolas
The new Ipod Nano

So there is about 4-5 iPods lying around the house and I can’t think of going by a day without music or without my iPod. I take it everywhere and I got a Nano for the gym earlier this year and though I have to deal with space constrains, I still take it everywhere because of how small and slim it is. Completely handy and portable.
So Apple recently announced all the new features that the new generation of ipod Nanos will come equipped with and it really reads like a solid list! From video camera to FM tuners where you can pause (live!) at any stage to voice recorders to a pedometer (an application that counts every step you
