Oso Ristorante (Singapore)

Italian food is one of my favorite cuisines and eating my way around Italy is one of the things on my ‘to-do’ list. I’ve overdosed on pasta and cheap wine a couple of times in Italy and each time, it’s been delicious fun. So that said, I am always up for Italian food.

Last weekend, I had dinner at Oso Ristorante which is situated in the Chinatown area of Singapore. The first floor is a bar-cum-lounge area where pre-meal drinks are served. The decor is cozy with a classic Italian touch – think red velvet and plush chairs. I know this is not representative of Italy but the caiprinhas at Oso were pretty good.

The dinner area is located on the second floor and it’s as busy as a restaurant gets. Service is smooth and good recommendations were given. My spider crab ‘granchio’ starter was fresh and palatable and the mixed salad with ‘parmigiano’ cheese was crisp and packed an acidic punch.

The oven baked whole sea bream had a stunning flavor profile. It was moist, tender and flavorful. I am a huge fan of seafood and this fish dish was wonderful. The lamb rack (oven baked for 8 hours) was tender, juicy and sumptuous. The meat fell off the bones with ease and the black onions and green beans were perfect accomplices.

Desert was frozen vanilla parfait and white chocolate and orange cake dosed in Grand Marnier. The vanilla parfait wasn’t as good as the rest of dinner but the chocolate and orange cake was better – the Grand Marnier flavor present in a controlled portion.

I throughly enjoyed my dinner and will definitely go back very soon. Oso Ristorante (Singapore)
