Spring-Summer 2012 marks the 10th year since n.d.c. made by hand was created by Enrique Corbi & Arnaud Zannier- two friends passionate about shoes. The brand name n.d.c. – nom de code / code name – reflects their conviction that the strength of the brand is the product itself, where simplicity, quality, originality and constructional know-how are king. For n.d.c, a good shoe is a work of art.
Enrique brought to the stand a pair of his own n.d.c. brogues that he had washed in his home washing machine after deciding that they looked just a little too perfect. The result was like nothing that had been seen before on the market: beaten-up, washed shoes with a whole personality of their own. Not sure if this new direction in shoe finishing would be embraced by their customers, the brogues were forgotten in a corner of the stand.
It was a group of Japanese buyers with a keen eye who spotted them, fell in love and promptly ordered a thousand pairs. It was then that they knew that they were onto something special. Since then they have been developing their repetoire of unique styles with comfortable lasts, interesting constructions and original finishing techniques that include top-secret concoctions of natural waxes and oils.
True enough, their slouchy style makes them perfect for warm weather. The collection of boat shoes, boots and lace-ups all have a vintage-feel and look; the kind that only gets better with age. They’ve got character and charm – so go on and make your own memories in them this Spring.
