I remember playing with a lot of colored tapes when I was younger. I would stick them to my shoes and pretend like I was so cool. There was something very cool, very punk about home-made stuff. Of course, I out-grew that phase. When I saw this pair of shoes with tape detail from Marc Jacobs, it brought back a lot of memories.
Of course, these look way better than my home-made shoes of yesteryear would ever look but there seems to be something missing. I can’t pinpoint exactly what but this looks and feels like it could be a lot more. I guess I am not convinced by this pair and the particular combination of light beige and black tape don’t seem to go harmoniously together. Perhaps that was the intention; for the black tape to really stand out. But it’s lost on me and I find this a little confusing and not very stylish. I’ll pass.
