Distressed leather is not something you see a lot on clothes. After all, if my leather jackets were to start distressing, I would go into distress myself. So it’s refreshing to see them being used on sneakers. The ones on this pair of high-tops from Martin Margiela are superb.
I am really digging their petrol-colored shade – a luminously cool greyish blue with a hint of purple. That fused with the distressed leather adds a kick of edge that will not go unnoticed. The use of black rubber on the toe cap and sole provides a further kick of contrasting color that will look stunning paired with chinos or jeans. The zip on the side allows for easy slip on and off which is always appreciated. I would wear this with tailored pieces for a modern spin.
