A handkerchief is one of those little accessories that you don’t use quite literally. Or at least I hope you don’t. Now with tissue readily available everywhere, the whole act of using a handkerchief literally is a little outdated. But it’s not a mere sartorial issue, it brings along with it health issues. It’s a breeding ground for bacteria and I can’t imagine blowing my nose and then putting it back into my pocket and then reusing it again and again until the day is over.
I am really digressing but my point is that handkerchiefs serve a different purpose these days. They make excellent companions to blazers and jackets. This piece from Martin Margiela has an arresting blue and gold check print that will not go unnoticed. I like how the slightly sheer silk fabric helps complement the lushness of the gold print – a luxe piece that will look spiffy all year long.
