For SS’12, Icon Brand has collaborated with British Menswear designer Martine Rose. Together, they have created a capsule collection of accessories that will be showcased in Martine’s catwalk as part of the prestigious MAN show at London Fashion Week.
This is Martine’s seventh season and her previous collections have received rave reviews by press and industry alike. Icon Brand is featured throughout Martine’s collection with heavily customized bandanas worn as scarves, cuffs, and held by the model’s side. The bandanas are embellished with charms and components from Icon Brand’s extensive jewellery back-catalogue, and have been painted in bold colors to reflect the punk aesthetic of Martine’s SS’12 collection.
The collaboration between Martine & Icon Brand was inspired by their shared fascination in individuality and the desire to create a truly customized look. Picking up found and treasured objects along the journey, Icon Brand accessories ranges of recent seasons have nodded heavily towards this theme, and a selection of the collaborative designs from Martine’s show will now form an exclusive Icon Brand Limited Edition capsule for SS’12. These pieces are set to be available next summer through selected key retailers, by invitation.
Born in 1977 on the surf-drenched shores of Byron Bay, Australia, ICON BRANDTM mixes quality materials with found objects to create jewellery that conveys raw masculinity and a rock and roll edge. Collections are vintage in feel through meticulous hand oxiding, wash treatments & distressing processes so that the product arrives ‘Destroyed for Comfort’.
For SS’12 Martine Rose draws inspiration from the 70’s Californian skate and surf scene as well as the legendary Zephyr Team to demonstrate the importance of youth and individuality within fashion. Kurt Cobain’s almost unconscious ability to subvert the perception of the 20th century man and the 90’s aesthetic he helped creating is also present in Martine’s unique designs.
