Ferragamo Party Vernice Moccasin VS YSL Dandy Tuxedo Loafers

Take a look at both shoes. Can you spot the difference? I think when two luxury labels release similar looking shoes, you wonder just who inspired whom and if imitation (designer or not) is really the best form of flattery. I tried on the Ferragamo pair (the one on your left) last December at Nordstrom, I saw it online sometime earlier and I liked how it looked but when I saw it for myself, it wasn’t very me. The round toe is too round for my liking and I would have preferred the leather to be a tad sleeker.

It seems like the YSL pair (the one on your right) took the Ferragamo design and improved on it. No points for originality but the leather has a greater patent sheen and there is a topstiching detail around the upper portion of the loafer. I also liked how the addition of the leather lining. It lends a subtle chic dash of detail.

The Ferragamo pair has a ribbon trim as well and tonal topstiching around the vamp. I know Ferragamo released this design first while you can per-order the YSL pair. I won’t be getting either pair but if I were to recommend a pair, no prize for guessing which it would be. The Ferragamo Party Venice Moccasin can be found at Bergdorf Goodman for US$520 and YSL Dandy Tuxedo Loafers can be pre-ordered at Saks Fifth Avenue for US$595.
