I wasn’t really a very sporty person growing up. I played sports but I didn’t live for them you know? My weekends were spent writing, reading and day-dreaming. So I didn’t really care much for sportswear. But I like a rugged vibe to be incorporated into some of my ensembles and if you’re on the same page as me, this shirt from Dries Van Noten will hit all the right spots.
The half-zipped placket and round collar provides a granddad shirt-vibe that also feels a little athletic. The addition of a chest pocket and a contrasting pointed panel remind us that this is still at its heart, a shirt. I like the overall mixed aesthetic of this piece – its versatility makes it a rather fun piece to play around with either on its own or as a layering piece. Pair with tailored pants for a night on the town or light chinos for a day of drinks and long lunches.
