Thrifty Flavors: Giorgio Brutini Dress Boots

Thanks to Keith aka KjAM at Party Favorz who gave us the push we needed to create a Thrifty Flavors segment where we find chic, great pieces for alot less than the usual items we feature. In uncertain times comes the need for greater prudence and here at Style Flavors, we are all about that. Though it might take a while for us to ride through this recession, it’s all good because being thrifty will never go out of style. And really at the end of the day, it’s not how much your clothes cost, but how you put them together, carry them that matters and relate to people that matters.

These dark brown dress boots feature a 2 inch heel that might be a …

Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer, Medium-Tan Skin Tones

If you’re not a fan of spending hours laying in the sun; it can get old after a while, the quickest way to get some color safely is by using a self-tanning moisturizer.

I’ve been using this moisturizer for about 1 year now when I want to get some color quickly. My skin adapts to tanning and self-tanners quite well – I don’t burn or look unnatural (at least I haven’t been told so!)

This doesn’t have that overpowering tan smell a lot of other similar products do. It doesn’t smell very great but it is not something you notice once you finished application. The good thing about this is that it gradually develops color so you don’t look orange. …

Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner, Alpha and Beta Hydroxy Formula

I’ve always had a problem with the size of my pores and I know there is no way to reduce the physical size of your pores (it all boils down to your skin type and genetics) but there are ways to reduce the look your pores. Pores look bigger when they are clogged with oil, dirt, black and whiteheads. Hence, having a product that will aid in the sweeping away of all those unwanted grime is a keeper.

I’ve been using this toner for a couple of years now and what I like about this is that it contains both Alpha and Beta Hydroxy acids that work to gently exfoliate surface skin and remove dead skin cells, blackheads and even-out skin …

Blistex Ultra Protection Lip Balm

I just recently discovered that my lips are allergic to Vaseline; petroleum jelly, to be precise. They were acting up (peeling, red spots, dried out) and after 2 trips to the dermatologist; I found out I was just simply allergic to Vaseline. I had to make a list of things I could possibly be allergic to and go through them the long way; by trial and error. I refused to believe it was Vaseline and so I started using it after my lips got better and they started acting up again. So ever since that day, I’ve had to read the ingredients label of lip balms carefully.

A lot of lip balms in the market today contain amounts of petroleum jelly. So aside …

Olay Body Wash Plus Radiance Ribbons

I picked this up at Safeway last year and I have to admit the only reason why I did so was because of the claim of skin luminosity. They had me at radiance. I didn’t think it would do much to make me ‘glow’ and that it was all a marketing ploy. I was however, trying to see if the placebo effect was any more luminescent. It was when I was replying to en email after a shower that I noticed tiny specks of what appeared to be glitter on my arms. I thought it strange because I couldn’t have rubbed against anything glittery (insert obvious joke here) between the 5 mins after the shower. I then realized it was …

I’ve been using Banana Boat’s line of lip balm for years now and they don’t disappoint especially with their great price range. I’ve used many different brands and I always seem to gravitate back to Banana Boat. This aloe vera lip balm is enriched with Vitamin E and SPF 30; great for those days on the beach or outdoors. It is also water-resistant so you don’t have to immediately reapply whenever you have a drink. And at US$1.39, it is cheaper than a daily cuppa at Starbucks! Vaseline

I think Petroleum Jelly is one of the coolest inventions; it moisturizers, heals and protects. And boys, it also lubricates too (Just don’t use it with a condom!). I apply this around my eye area before bed every night. It helps lock in moisture around the delicate eye area and by doing so, help prevent fine lines. It’s just another one of the many uses of this wonder in a tub. Get it at any pharmacy or supermarket.…
