Dior Homme Wrapped Mid Boot

I have a personal shopping criteria these days: I only buy stand-out pieces. No more generic, same old same old designs for me. As I get older, I should better edit my wardrobe and think before I whip out my piece of plastic.
These pair of boots have that stand-out quality. I am digging the wrap detail and the elastic strap closure. Futuristic and different – this is a pair that would be admired. I also like the sheen on the leather – it further adds a hit of sleekness to this pair.
Which is why I really don’t get the chunky rubber sole. I mean look at it, it completely steals attention from the wrap elastic band detail. It

Alexander McQueen for Puma Ribcage Sneakers

Going to the gym is part of my daily routine. I don’t go everyday but I go most everyday and I wear a comfortable tee, gym shorts and my trusty Nikes. And I really don’t have anyone to impress at my gym since I go to the one at my apartment complex and everyone is either too young, married with kids or too old. So really, you know, it’s not as if I need to put in any effort in that regard.
I don’t jog since I am always on the elliptical machine (it’s great – better for your knees than the treadmill) so it doesn’t matter how much cushion my gym shoes provide or how light they are. If you’re like

Ann Demeulemeester Lace Up Boot

I used to be a boots phase where all I did was look at and buy boots. I wore boots everyday and even when it wasn’t the most appropriate footwear choice, I still found a way to incorporate into whatever I needed to do. I am out of the phase but I come across certain pieces from time to time that reminded me of just why I was so boots crazy in the first place.

This gorgeous pair is hitting all the right notes. I love the vibe that it gives off – edgy, modern and yet so nonchalant. The buckle strap is the only detail on this pair but it is all that you need. Simplicity and a quiet …

Billionaire Boys Club Deep Space Sneakers

I live in my sneakers. I take them out, I thrash them and I wear them and repeat. So I like how much mileage one can get out of a pair of sneakers and I really like this pair.
The deep navy shade is current and yet will remain relevant for a while to come. The high-top Chuck inspired design is classic while the white specks (like its name suggests) are inspired by constillations in space. What they do is add a subtle dash of detail and contrast.
Simple, detailed and on sale – grab this if you’re on the market for a pair of sneakers. Available in size 7 & 8. Get this for US$220 US$110 at SSense.

Cole Hann Glad Rags

Fall’s a great season to wear boots – no Summer heat/humidity to deal with and your feet could use with a little more insulation. Brown is a solid color to begin with and pretty universal.

This pair of short boots gets my vote. I am digging its tanned, lighter shade which gives off an air of collected casualness. One that is not forced or pretentious. Just very cool. The double antique brass buckles adds a dressy feel while the perforated medallion on the toe gives it a dash of detail.

Wear this with your favorite denim, pants or tailored shorts. Either way, this sleek pair will get you through more than one season.

Get this for US$375 at Cole Hann.…

CoSTUME National ACTIVE T-Strap Low Top Leather Sneaker

Sneakers are a part of my everyday life. I run errands in them, I throw them on when I need to rough it up in the clubs (too many brand new dress shoes damaged after one night of dancing) and they are great for easy, casual, no-fuss days. However, track shoes (the kind you wear to the gym) are not meant to be worn outside the gym. I see guys wearing track shoes with jeans and shirts and it’s just wrong. It completely throws off their whole look and ruins the aesthetic.

So have sneakers to wear out and sneakers to work out in – and keep them separate. That said, I am digging this pair of leather sneakers and …

Yves Saint Laurent Black Suede Tassel Loafers

I’ve only started noticing suede shoes this year. Before that, I’ve adverted them because of their lack of propensity for water. Suede and water – no go. And since I have no control over the weather, I decided that having control of my choice of shoe fabric was enough.

Lately, I’ve started taking a close look at suede shoes. They give off a vibe of luxury and a mod, dressy feel that can be played in a variety of ways – preppy, European, Caribbean.

These suede loafers caught my eye with their simple yet timeless design. Soft suede makes this a joy to walk in while the tassel design brings with it a level of old-world sophistication that gets better …

South Willard Black Leather Toe Strap Sandal

I spend most of my time in sneakers and dress shoes that I often forget how light it feels to wear a flip flop or sandal. And it is with these moments that I make a mental note to loosen up and throw on a pair of sandals more often.

I am liking this pair of hand made leather sandals very much. The multiple straps give detail that is simple and yet arresting. The brass rivets give this handsome piece a dressy vibe that won’t go unnoticed.

Wear these with shorts, khakis, jeans and even pants. And a pedicure wouldn’t hurt too.

Get these for US$138 at South Willard

Thrifty Flavors: Polo Ralph Lauren Barx

I remember spending some weekends when I was younger at the country club. It was there that I saw men in khaki shorts and boat shoes. I thought that sockless shoes (I didn’t know what they were called then) were spiffy. I still remember wishing I could grow up quicker just so I could have shoes like these.

I still think they are spiffy – like this pair. The dark navy shade is universal and the contrast outer stitching add detail without trying too hard. The best detail is the red and white leather panels on the back – they add a dose of unexpected color that is just right.

When I see this pair, I think yachts, Summer, alcohol, …

Creative Recreation DiCoco Sneakers

I go in and out of phases all the time. I remember my dress shoe phase where all I did was wear dressy leather shoes. Nothing simpler. After a few pairs were damaged in the clubs, bars and dance floor; I decided that it was just wiser and less traumatic to stick with sneakers if I knew I was going to get down and physical. So that started my sneaker phase.

That said, this pair will look good on the dance floor and while you’re running errands. The velcro straps give a retro vibe while the silver stripes and crocodile textured leather add detail and color that goes splendidly with this trendy piece.

The sliver of patent leather adds a …

Gucci Leather Moccasin

I love laced-up leather shoes and as much as I love my laced-up shoes, they get cumbersome sometimes when the laces come undone. And they always seem to come undone at the most inappropriate of times. They are also a bit trickier to take off after the party and the after-party – untying thin and short laces after consuming copious amounts of alcohol is not exactly very fun at 5am.

That said, it is at these times, where moccasins and loafers are so handy. This pair from Gucci is hitting all the right notes with me. I love the clean, simple lines and the sleek exterior. Neat, functional and yet stylish. The simplicity of this pair is something I really …

Berluti Piercing

Berluti Piercing ($1500)

Berluti Piercing Ankle Boot ($1700)

the caviar, the foie gras, the Hermes etc (you get the idea) of men’s shoes.

Headed by the only female shoe maker in the world, Olga Berluti, Berluti is known of its highest quality, comfort and attention to personal detail. So much so, you can even select your very own shade and transparency you want your pair to have. The Venezia leather was invented in 1980 by Olga; this natural skin provided a platform for which different colors could be obtained with different depth by means of a special tanning process.

Patina, which is a lacquer used on every Berluti shoe gives each pair its special color and transparency. Hence, the perpetual stunning sheen you see.

I am loving the subtle single stitch on …
