It took me a few seconds to realize that the toe of this lace-ups is different from its body. What a simple way to play with texture and detail. The textured leather will only look better with wear and age while the smooth toe with the perforated trim will keep it looking sharp and polished.
This is a classic quiet piece that will go superbly with your work outfit and if you want to, your denim. Whatever you choose; this simple, stylish pair will serve you quite well.

It’s Friday the 13th and some people will take extra precautions, others will simple shrug it off and here at Style Flavors, we present you with this horrendous excuse for a designer shoe.
Everything is wrong about this – from the tacky patchwork flowers to the red crocodile heel. I don’t know what sort of imagery the multicolored patchwork flowers are suppose to conjure up but they will never be auspicious so I can’t imagine where one wear this to.
And to stress how ridiculous and how worthy of this pair is of its price-tag, a red crocodile trim is thrown in around the heel for good measure. This is utterly worthless because shoes are meant to be worn and when they get …

Gucci, Lace-Ups, WTF?

Here at Style Flavors, we have not been very kind to Gucci – what with their logos, cheap embroidery and tacky fixtures. However, this is one redeeming shoe and we like what we see.
The black calf leather lace-up goes perfectly with the patent trim; like coffee and milk or condoms and lubricant. With just the right proportions and at the right positions, the patent leather trim adds a hit of understated detail.
This versatile pair will look equally look with dark jeans or tailored pants. I am also enjoying the visible curves on this pair of handsome lace-ups – and that is an added bonus!

Black lace-ups are essential for every man’s wardrobe. They take you from the boardroom to your favorite restaurant and then to the after-party with ease.
This pair from Giorgio Armani with its sleek laser-cut design will fill that void you might have if you need a more conservative pair for work and a pair to paint the town red with. It’s not too loud and it will look spiffy with your work shirts.
What I love most is its price point, at US$475, you can have a pair of lace-ups that you’ll wear both on and off duty. It’s not everyday that you find a great pair for less than $500 (though I wish I could go back to the time when a $500 pair of shoe was considered expensive – but …

Details are beautiful things especially when they are intricate and understated. When they exist solely just to complement but not steal attention. This pair from Prada hits all the right notes and then some.
The subtle and exquisite perforation of a medallion serves up just the kind of detail you want from all your shoes. It gives an inspired vibe and expect compliments and looks of envy when these are on your feet.
The handsome Grigio (reddish brown) calfskin will take you from work to play and will look stunning when paired with tailored pants.
Now, if only they had this in my size…..

I’ve been thinking about dark navy leather shoes for a while now. They are a great alternative to your regular black and would look fantastic all year round.
This handsome pair from YSL will go splendidly with both jeans and tailored pants. The lace-up design feels right at home in the boardroom and the next big restaurant/bar. The intricate perforation on this lace-up adds a formal, stylish feel while not being stuffy. I am loving the contrast between the dark navy leather and the brown wooden heel; it is a subtle play on color and it’s got my attention!
I’ve got to go play around with this some more but I am definitely searching for a pair of dark navy lace-ups to call mine this season!

This leather five-eye balmoral caught my eye with its simple, clean aesthetic and unique patchwork toe. The soft leather gives off a subtle sheen and the lace-up design makes this suitable for both work and play. This will look great with either jeans or tailored pants.
Prada has a strong collection out this Fall; with a few key items already on my shopping list. This is one pair I shall be looking out for in Paris! Get this for US$850 at Barney’s or at your local Prada boutiques. …

I love sharp, pointed shoes. It’s usually one of the prerequisites I have when deciding between a bunch of shoes when only allowing myself to take home 1 pair; 2 pairs max. I was initially surprised at this pair because Dsquared2 is usually too OTT(Over-The-Top) for me.
This lace-up patent shoe from Dsquared2 is as sharp as they get which is what caught my eye. The croc-embossed patent leather is the second thing I noticed. I know it’s not real crocodile skin but the finish on this pair of lace-ups is sleek and refined. The patent sheen adds just the right touch of striking glaze.
Now I just have to figure out why they don’t have this in my size. Get this for US$540 at Saks …

Fendi caused a stir in Milan when these shoes were sent out on the runway for the Spring 2009 show. Wedge shoes for men. This is a novel idea and a lot of designers are blurring the lines between the traditional idea of masculinity and femininity. From YSL’s 2.5 inch boots to Prada’s man-kini and now wedge heel shoes from Fendi.
I am sold on the idea; I think it’s a great modern twist on men’s shoes and I can’t wait to try them out. I can see myself walking out of the store with a pair! …

These shoes from the Burberry Prorsum Spring 09 runway show caught my attention. These leather lace-ups are without a heel so they do look like sneakers but that said, I wouldn’t go on a treadmill with these. I am loving the dark brown color and its matte-ness, these will go so well with black pants or jeans. The silver pair has a black patent toe; the concept of having a portion of the shoe in black patent seems to be quite a popular concept among designers (Fendi has a pair of boots with this particular detail). Aside from the toe, the lace area is also patent and black. These will look swell in both formal and casual events. I am looking forward to trying them on in …

This pair of beautiful patent lace-ups from Louis Vuitton will look amazing with tailored pants or dark jeans. Dress them up or down and you’ll still have a winner on your hand. I dig the sleek patent leather and the meticulous stitching on the upper front portion of this shoe.
