Henri Lloyd The Country Gent Boot

by Nicolas

I am looking forward to Fall because cold weather means boots. And you can’t go wrong with a great pair of boots. Visualize this: Your favorite pair of jeans with a leather jacket and boots – a fantastic combo. Speaking of which, I want to introduce you to this pair by Henri Lloyd.

The color and textural contrast is the most arresting detail of this pair of boots – the resin oiled canvas adds softness and extra comfort that pops against the wonderfully burnished leather. The arresting details do not just stop there. Look at the upper two lace-loops and how the differ from the rest – a quiet, subtle detail that will always be appreciated.

There is an undeniable utilitarian vibe that contains all strains of refinement – one that would look perfect with denim. Spray some leather protector on before heading out and you’re good to go.

Fendi Lace-Up Leather Boots

by Nicolas

Fendi has never done much for me. I am not a fan of their logo. I think it looks tacky and old. But never say never because you might just find a piece that blows your expectations (because it’s unexpected and not because you don’t have any expectations) like this pair of boots just did.

I am so digging everything about this stunning pair. From its discreet metal logo that is sleek and refined to the awesome cut-out details. It is details like these that show you don’t have to scream to be heard or appreciated. This is takes the cake just by being quiet – intimate luxury.

This looks tough in a formal way making this perfect for both work and play. Size 8 please. Get this Fendi Lace-Up Leather Boots for US$745 at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Dior Homme Seams Leather Boots

by Nicolas

I haven’t been excited about Dior Homme’s footwear for a couple of seasons already. Nothing spoke out to me until I saw this pair of boots.

The clean, minimalistic look is so appealing – making this great for the work place too. And despite being minimalist, this doesn’t scrimp on details. I am digging the seaming detail – it adds a sleek, polished vibe that never gets old. The 1.5 inch heel provides a great boost for days when you feel 2 feet tall.

Marc Jacobs High Hudson Ankle Boot

by Nicolas

When the weather turns wet and cold, it’s tough to keep your leather shoes pristine so during winter, my footwear of choice are naturally boots.

Boots that do double duty – look good and keep my feet warm. I like not having to really care so much about my boots. I just take them to my shoe-guy when they look like they could use some happiness and he makes them shine and look great again. It works out very well.

These boots from Marc Jacobs have that quintessential tough, rough quality about them. So they will take you through the rain and snow without a glitch. I like how simple they are, so quiet and unassuming but have their own secret lining – a sheepskin variety that will not only feel comfortable but also help insulate your feet. This is luxury.

Burberry Leather Explorer Mid Boot

by Nicolas

We’re still in the midst of Summer but I’ve started thinking about my winter wardrobe and planning (and purchasing) accordingly. It never hurts to think ahead and it is fun.

This pair of shearling line boots from Burberry would make a perfect companion this Fall. The beauty is in its simplicity and its details. The metallic buckle on the strap instantly adds a dashing hit of cool while giving off a tough yet refined utilitarian vibe.

The gorgeous shearling wool will keep your feet extra warm in a luxurious setting. It also lends a hit of detail to this pair. It’s pieces like this that make the cold worth waiting for.

Robert Geller Ankle Boots

by Nicolas

v

Sale season is still lingering on with stores offering final sales so this is a great time to go out and see what else is there. You never know what bargains you might stumble upon.

These awesome pair of boots by Robert Geller are on sale – final sale actually. Available in two colors – black and grey. Both colors are great and versatile so it’s really up to individual preference. These boots are cool and stylish and would work for both work and play outfits.

I am totally digging the subtle details like the back zip and the strap with stud closure. A quiet cool that is simply desirable. I wanted to get the grey pair but like all sales, they are out of my size… But they still have bigger sizes in stock.

Would You? : Rick Owens Platform Wedge Boots

by Nicolas

I very much dig Rick Owen’s leather jackets. They are everything leather jackets should be – tough, sleek and ultimately cool. During my next round of leather jacket buying season, I will buy one or two from him. When I think of Rick Owens, I also think of the dramatic factor and he is known to turn the dial up on that front quite a bit. A great example is/are these pair of platform wedge boots.

Available in two version – a snakeskin one and a waxed suede version. You can’t help but ask for attention in both pairs with the snakeskin pair demanding more looks. I am on the fence on this one – I am all for gender blending and androgyny but I can’t help but think this is a tad too much.

It takes a whole load of attitude and character to properly carry this off. I don’t think I can and I know it’s just not my style. But these will definitely start conversations so either go all out or not at all…
