Rag & Bone Trainer High-Top Sneakers

by Nicolas

I didn’t get into suede footwear until late last year. I was a late adopter and my reason was that suede is suede and it doesn’t go with water and since I am not Storm or her offspring, I can’t control the weather. But all it took is a pair of Pierre Hardy suede chukkas and I was a convert.

I found a way to keep my suede and also leather shoes in tip-top condition and it’s really simple – suede/leather protector. You can get them at the shoe department of most major malls or at your trusted cobbler (which is where I bought mine). Simply spray the protector on your beloved shoes and let them dry for a bit and you’re good to go for a few weeks. Yes, the good ones do last a few weeks.

Now that I’ve got that suede-and-water phobia sorted out, I can focus on enjoying the myriad of beautiful suede shoes like this pair from Rag & Bone. The brown suede is great for everyday wear and what I am digging most is the leather details – on the lace and the leather strip at the front right of the shoe close to the toe. It’s so simple and yet I am quite drawn. Quiet and handsome – can’t go wrong with that combination.

I don’t have to say more. Get this Rag & Bone Trainer High-Top Sneakers for US$330 at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Henri Lloyd The Country Gent Boot

by Nicolas

I am looking forward to Fall because cold weather means boots. And you can’t go wrong with a great pair of boots. Visualize this: Your favorite pair of jeans with a leather jacket and boots – a fantastic combo. Speaking of which, I want to introduce you to this pair by Henri Lloyd.

The color and textural contrast is the most arresting detail of this pair of boots – the resin oiled canvas adds softness and extra comfort that pops against the wonderfully burnished leather. The arresting details do not just stop there. Look at the upper two lace-loops and how the differ from the rest – a quiet, subtle detail that will always be appreciated.

There is an undeniable utilitarian vibe that contains all strains of refinement – one that would look perfect with denim. Spray some leather protector on before heading out and you’re good to go.

Fendi Leather Sneakers

by Nicolas

I am very pleased and surprised at the direction Fendi is heading this season (at least with its footwear). Gone are the ostentatious and tacky black/brown double ‘F’ logos plastered all over. Instead, subtlety is the new kid in town and I hope he stays.

This pair of leather sneakers won me over with its modern and simple look – grey soft buffalo leather that looks fantastic dressed both up or down. Its simplicity makes this a winner and I am very much digging the perforated logo detail – a sleek way to tell the world where you are from without needing to flash your proverbial boobs.

Salvatore Ferragamo Metropolis Sneakers

by Nicolas

I am on the quest to inject more color into my wardrobe and if you’re doing the same thing, shoes and accessories are good things to start with. A great pair of sneakers like this pair here from Salvatore Ferragamo will instantly add a pop of color to any outfit.

The dark navy shade is rich and inviting. It has a refinement that never gets old. The soft suede compliments this refinement and ups the dress factor of this pair. The classic and simple design looks modern and I like the quiet contrast of the white embroidered brand detail – subtle but succinct.

Fendi Lace-Up Leather Boots

by Nicolas

Fendi has never done much for me. I am not a fan of their logo. I think it looks tacky and old. But never say never because you might just find a piece that blows your expectations (because it’s unexpected and not because you don’t have any expectations) like this pair of boots just did.

I am so digging everything about this stunning pair. From its discreet metal logo that is sleek and refined to the awesome cut-out details. It is details like these that show you don’t have to scream to be heard or appreciated. This is takes the cake just by being quiet – intimate luxury.

This looks tough in a formal way making this perfect for both work and play. Size 8 please. Get this Fendi Lace-Up Leather Boots for US$745 at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Dior Homme Seams Leather Boots

by Nicolas

I haven’t been excited about Dior Homme’s footwear for a couple of seasons already. Nothing spoke out to me until I saw this pair of boots.

The clean, minimalistic look is so appealing – making this great for the work place too. And despite being minimalist, this doesn’t scrimp on details. I am digging the seaming detail – it adds a sleek, polished vibe that never gets old. The 1.5 inch heel provides a great boost for days when you feel 2 feet tall.
