Biotherm Homme Non-Drying Facial Cleansing Gel

My skin gets a little dry and flaky occasionally from the use of acne products. There is a constant feeling of tightness and discomfort during those periods and my skin (glands) produces even more oil to compensate for the dryness.

I stay away from harsher cleansers during those times and I use this non-drying cleansing gel till my skin returns to normal. The blue-green gel has a fresh, pine-like smell and it works to gently remove daily grime, oil and dirt while toning your skin.

Its oil free, light texture and soap-free formulation ensures that I still get clean skin without the dehydration. I also like using this during the colder months of the year because my skin is already dried out by the icy winds and …

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Facial Scrub

I discovered this weekly scrub when I was in high school; dealing with teenage acne. I am over that stage; thankfully, but I still use this when I am breaking out in zits from stress or environmental pollution during my travels.

The refreshing scent of tea tree oil not only smells good but also helps combat and kills bacteria that cause zits. Excess oil is also swept away but unlike traditional acids that deal with pimples, tea tree oil doesn’t over-dry the skin so it is less harsh than a lot of the regular ingredients found in acne products.

Extracts of beeswax lock in moisture and act as a skin conditioner while fine mineral beads and ground tea leaves exfoliate to …

Lab Series Purifying Clay Mask

Regular deep-cleansing of your skin by means of a facial mask will ensure dirt, grime, oil don’t stay clogged in your pores. It’s like a regular detox program for your skin.

I am like this clay mask from Lab Series. It works quite effectively to draw out impurities and keep your pores clean and free. Works well on annoying zits; I apply a little on isolated zits and then head to bed. Come the next day, the size of the zit is significantly reduced.

Slap it on a clean face; avoiding the eye area and then let it dry for 5 minutes. Then rinse off. The great thing about this is that it works in 5 minutes so if you’re …

The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care Stick SPF 15

Beeswax is one of my favorite balm ingredients and so is Vitamin E; one of the most commonly used antioxidants that combats free radicals and protect skin from daily environmental aggressions.

This lip balm from The Body Shop combines both of my favorite ingredients into one nifty stick. I’ve had to be very selective about my lip products ever since my Petroleum Jelly allergy.

I’m digging this lip balm because not only does it contain my favorite ingredients; it also has essential oils from olives and coconuts that work together to nourish the delicate lip area.

This glides on easily and smoothly and the faint vanilla flavors is pleasant and very light; hardly noticeable at all. With SPF 15, you can be sure …

Anthony Logistics Razor Burn Repair

I don’t have a lot of facial or body hair so I don’t have to shave daily; which is a very good thing, in my opinion. I try to shave every 3-4 days and get away with not having to deal with it the rest of week.

That being said, I’ve had my fair share of nicks and burns and cuts from shaving. It’s always a hassle and an irritating way to start your day.

I discovered this burn repair after-shave a few weeks ago and shaving has become such a breeze because of it. It is packed with extracts that heal, protect, soothe and calm your skin after every shave.

With Benzocaine; a topical anesthetic to help relieve razor burns, Vitamin …

Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner, Alpha and Beta Hydroxy Formula

I’ve always had a problem with the size of my pores and I know there is no way to reduce the physical size of your pores (it all boils down to your skin type and genetics) but there are ways to reduce the look your pores. Pores look bigger when they are clogged with oil, dirt, black and whiteheads. Hence, having a product that will aid in the sweeping away of all those unwanted grime is a keeper.

I’ve been using this toner for a couple of years now and what I like about this is that it contains both Alpha and Beta Hydroxy acids that work to gently exfoliate surface skin and remove dead skin cells, blackheads and even-out skin …

OXY Daily Cleansing Pads, Focus: Blackheads

I take this with me on every trip and I count on this to remove oil, dirt and pesty blackheads in-between showers. It’s extremely handy if you’re going somewhere checking out ancient sites, finding the best hole in the wall place or camping in the middle of the desert where water is scarce.

Just pop them out and wipe across your face for instant refreshment and a semi-clean slate until your next bath/shower. With 0.2% Salicylic Acid, this helps keeps pores clean, bacteria free and with a patented formula to help get rid of blackheads.

I, personally like looking at the pads to check out the grime and the blackheads that were seconds ago, on my face. It’s a combination …

Origins Modern Friction™

Weekly exfoliation is critical for healthy, glowing skin. I, exfoliate twice a week and it’s usually with products that contain tiny apricot husks, microbeads, skin-buffing crystals etc. Imagine my surprise and curiosity when I discovered this buffing paste from Origins.

Yes, I said buffing paste because this is not a scrub. This unique buffer contains rice starch cushioned in cream which works gently but effectively in removing complexion dulling dead skin cells, uneven skin patches, discoloration and skin damage. So unlike the traditional buffers, it is recommended that you use this on a clean, dry face to fully maximize the wonderful benefits.

The texture is milky with tiny specks of rich starch bits; it smells light and it feels almost like a cream cleanser during the application. It …

Blistex Ultra Protection Lip Balm

I just recently discovered that my lips are allergic to Vaseline; petroleum jelly, to be precise. They were acting up (peeling, red spots, dried out) and after 2 trips to the dermatologist; I found out I was just simply allergic to Vaseline. I had to make a list of things I could possibly be allergic to and go through them the long way; by trial and error. I refused to believe it was Vaseline and so I started using it after my lips got better and they started acting up again. So ever since that day, I’ve had to read the ingredients label of lip balms carefully.

A lot of lip balms in the market today contain amounts of petroleum jelly. So aside …

Malin + Goetz Acne Treatment

Malin+Goetz is a NYC based apothecary that uses hydration and absorption science to keep skin in tip-top condition. This acne treatment contains salicylic acid with 10% active sulfur to effectively dry and combat acne pimples. With Camphor to battle impurities and zinc oxide to prevent scarring and skin damage.

As harsh as that might all sound, this treatment is gentle enough for sensitive skin. I don’t experience peeling or excessive drying usually associated with acne products. I was actually pretty surprised by its gentleness.

I have thick oily skin that still gets dried out by acne products so if you have the same skin type, you’ll appreciate this. So get zapping! Get this at Malin+Goetz for US$22 or at Tobi.

Lancome Bienfait Multi-Vital Glow SPF 15

I’ve been on the market for a day moisturizer that will provide sun protection, moisturize and give me a light tan at the same time. I know I can easily go get a self-tanner with SPF but I am not a fan of the smell that a lot of self tanner have and I find I look like I just finished a 12 hour shift in the kitchen at IHOP’s whenever I use them so I was quite glad when I discovered this.

This vitamin enriched, non-comedogenic moisturizer will pack in essential moisture, shield you from harmful UVA/UVB rays and give you a natural subtle glow all at the same time. With 2.5% DHA (the ingredient that causes your skin to adopt a …

Lab Series Triple Benefit Post Shave Remedy

I don’t have a lot of facial hair but I still need to shave and I hate getting nicks and cuts because I don’t think nature intended shaving to be that uncomfortable. Or maybe it did, since ancient men relied on body hair to keep stay warm during the Ice Age. Hmm.

If you don’t need extra insulation, like I do, you’ll find this post shaving gel quite friendly. It works 3 ways to make the period after shaving more comfortable. It helps to relieve and prevent ingrown hairs, soothes and prevent irritation from razor bumps, soften and refines facial hair for less frequent shaves. This quick absorbing gel also helps delay the appearance of the five o’clock shadow (unless …
