J.Crew Vintage Chambray Utility Shirt

by Nicolas

I remembered how much I enjoy Chambray after I found a 3.1 Philip Lim Chambray shirt at the back of my closet a couple of weeks ago. There is just something about this wash that feels both vintage and modern at the same time. Its timeless appeal is something I will always appreciate.

This J.Crew piece with its double chest pocket has, like its name suggests, a utilitarian vibe that works all year round. You can dress this up or down – with pants, jeans, shorts or chinos, and it will look equally great. I am digging the two-button extended collar band – a simple, subtle detail that gives both form and function (its for reinforcement). The shorter button placket rounds up this classic wardrobe essential.

Versace Collection Studded Sportshirt

by Nicolas

Versace Collection is really hitting all my sartorial spots this season and I have to say I am pretty turned on – I’ve got a sartorial boner. Perhaps it’s because I have never expected much from Versace and so low expectations = bigger impact. It’s definitely also because of lust-worthy pieces such as this studded shirt.

I am a huge fan of studs and spikes and this white shirt with its hundreds of gunmetal studs are hitting all my right spots. I love the unexpected contrast in texture and look – the juxtaposition of a crisp, traditional white shirt and silver metal studs is perfect. I am digging how the first lining of studs on the  placket end halfway – a detailed, calculated contrast that only serves to draw further attention to this gorgeous piece.

Burberry dressed the following guests at 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Winner of Creative Emmy for Producer of Best Reality Program “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution”, Ryan Seacrest wore a custom-tailored black notch lapel tuxedo, shirt, tie and shoes and so did Bryan Cranston (Winner of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for “Breaking Bad”), Aaron Paul (Winner of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for “Breaking Bad”) and Glee’s Kevin Mchale.

Rainn Wilson and Hugh Dancy both chose a custom-tailored ink colour notch lapel tuxedo, shirt and shoes. As a side note, I am glad Modern Family won Best Comedy!

Gap Military Mockneck Cardigan

by Nicolas

I don’t know about you but I am very much looking forward to the end of the year and colder weather for that matter. It’s September tomorrow and I will be very busy the next couple of months and in that vein, time will fly. I am looking forward to spending a few weeks in Europe and like always, I have started wardrobe planning.

A chunky cardigan like this piece from Gap will be great this Fall. I am digging the big contrast buttons that compliment the chunkiness of the cardigan perfectly. The two side pockets are cute and provide both form and function – store change, credit card, keys etc. Perfect for an errand run in style.

The stand collar makes for a dapper look – a look that makes this a worthy buy. Get this Gap Military Mockneck Cardigan for US$69.50 at Gap.

Diesel “Lafsh” Leather Zip Up Jacket

by Nicolas

We know that leather jackets don’t come cheap; they are investment pieces that usually have 4-figure price tags attached to their timeless, classic beauty. I call my leather jackets the Berkshire-Hathaway stocks in my closet -they are my sartorial investment. That said, It is a lot of money to commit on just one piece but fret not. For those of you on a smaller budget, I have the perfect leather piece.

This awesome jacket from Diesel is inducing serious lust-bumps. The exposed zippers on the sleeves and back are details that I am digging the most. They show off attention to detail and compliment the whole tough-biker vibe of this piece so perfectly that it’s futile to resist. The multiple zippers add to the tough utilitarian vibe that is refined at the same time. I can’t stop looking at this and the wallet friendly price-tag makes this a kick-ass no-brainer.
