Schmoove Charlie Buckle Boots

Part of what I do here for Style Flavors is go through pieces after pieces, products after products to feature. Ones that are kick-ass, provide ample mileage and ones that are worth your time and money. That also means going through sale sections which is perhaps my favorite part of the process. John Varvatos Goat Skin Morrison Zip Boot

I am shifting towards a harder style of dressing these days and what better footwear to turn to than boots? Their versatility is a much appreciated bonus - use them to edge up a formal outfit or add punch to a night-on-the-town look.

O By O X Kazuki Vulcanized Boot

Designer collaborations are generally cool and exciting. I am always looking forward to see how ideas from creative directors can be harvested and compliment the vision of the design house.

Designer Kasuki Kuraishi teamed up with Adidas for a range of apparel and sneakers. This pair of boots is one offspring of the collaboration. I like how this isn't a piece that screams for attention. Instead, it's the kind of footwear that people slowly notice and compliment.

The visible stitching and perforations add a dose of detail while the black and white of the boots contrast perfectly. I especially like how the heel has both black and white (contrasting at the cap toe) - it provides visual stimulation without trying too hard.

There are days when I like being proper - crisp shirt, polished shoes, silk pocket squares. And then there are other days when I want to just rough things up - torn jeans, crumpled shirt and tough boots.

Salvatore Ferragamo Lince Boots

Boots are everywhere this Fall and with good reason - colder weather makes for harsher conditions and that trickles down to your everyday outfit. If there is one season to tough it out, Fall would be it.

I won't exactly call this sleek pair of boots tough in a literal sense but they look fantastic and that is half the battle won, maybe more - 75% of the battle won. The gorgeous auburn shade is perfect for work and play giving this a versitility that is always appreciated.

The wrap belted buckle design is succinct and clean and will easily give your attire a style level up. I would wear this with slightly cropped tailored pants to show the detail off. Detail like this just needs to be shown off.

John Varvatos Rock Volume 1

I am a huge fan of rock music and I grew up with Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer to just name a few. I had the most fun growing up jumping on my bed and pretending I was seeing them live. Which will explain my gravitation towards things (be it fashion, shoes or hotels) with an edge.

John Varvatos is one designer that understands and designs with a rock aesthetic in mind. So much so that he transformed the infamous CBGB club into his very own boutique while retaining the very essence of the original punk club.

I have been wearing this new scent from him everyday for the past week. Housed in a rock-solid jet black glass and hardened steel bottle, this EDT looks as serious as it smells. The weight of the bottle took me by surprise but I quickly got over its heavy feel.

The scent is an intricate blend of rose absolute, coffee bean and leather - and it smells rock-star worthy. Its masculine undertone brings to mind leather jackets, chains and guitars. In other words, a hit of edgy sensuality. So maybe I will never be a rock star, but at least I can smell a bit like one.

Mr.Hare Kerouac

I have a pair of Balenciaga boots from the Fall 08 collection that I wear with everything and everywhere. To lunches, to running errands to formal events. They look kick-ass with jeans tucked in and seemly innocuous when pants cover the high top. Until you go closer and notice the stunning lace hooks.

This pair of leather and suede boots have a similar quality. Unconventional and cool, this slip-on pair with its leather lace and metal button fastening is a breath of fresh air. The way the laces are hooked shows off detail and elevates this to another level. The suede portion gives a fabric contrast that shows off texture and detail that won't go unnoticed.
