I love lime green; I've found that it always spoke to me in one way or another. It is bright, eye catching, uncommon with a touch of loudness. Back when I was in junior high, I had a lime green money case. The Acrylic kind that you sling around your neck. I loved it and used it until it broke.
I haven't seen a lime green case like that ever since but this wallet caught my eye with its eye-popping lime green interior. The tiny oval, uniform cutouts reveal the bright interior giving this wallet both a hit of detail and color at the same time. It lends a modern edge to this leather piece.
The perforations on the middle interior add to the overall detail while the 8 card slots ensure ample space for all your essentials. I like how fresh this looks and its inexpensive price is a hit of fresh air too.

Sometime last year, I started weaning myself off my jeans and decided to get the best out of the impending global warming - tanned legs. I reckon if there is something that I can benefit from the rise in global temperatures, it's having a healthy glow. It's better than nothing.
So I went to my tailor and had a bunch of shorts made in the same fabric as I would my pants. This is the only way I could think of that would ensure that my shorts were not too long, too loose, too baggy. That they looked just right. I always have a problem buying clothes off the rack so having someone that could solve the problem for me made things a whole lot easier.
My point is: Summer is here and temperatures will keep soaring; so get your shorts out. This sleek piece takes my vote. I love the universal tan color - wear this all year round with tees or shirts, sandals or sneakers alike.
What I like most are the details - especially the Gingham welt pocket at the waistband; an ingenious way to play with fabric and capture attention. It's small enough to be unique and even though it stands out, it fits into the whole vibe of this shorts just splendidly.
The double button feature at the waistband adds a dash of tailored detailed while the buttons on the back pockets ensure your belongings don't fall out that easy when you're at the beach or the backyard BBQ. And the best thing about this? It's less than US$100!

Black is my favorite color and I know it's not technically a color - it's default but I reckon that since it has always been part of the color palette during all my Art classes, I think I can safely regard it as a color.
So that said, black tee shirts are one of my favorite things. They are easy, simple and so classic. And they are also great for clumsy individuals like myself - no visible spillage stains.
This cool tee from Kontorsion gets my vote for its unique design - the different phases of the moon. I don't know much about Astrology but I could certainly see this getting some attention and compliments. This lunar inspired tee will look cool with shorts, jeans and even pants.
Another neat little detail is the contrast white lining on this tee while the 100% Pima Cotton fabric ensures a super soft and comfortable tee that is great for all year round wear.

I am on a new mission; a new mission to find casual shirts that I can easily throw on during chilled out weekends. Tees are great, of course but sometimes I like look of a crumpled shirt and the disheveled vibe that it brings with it.
This great piece from Just A Cheap Shirt is a worthy weekend staple. Aside from the affordable price tag and the brand name that suggests so, this shirt is full of details that everyone will appreciate.
The versatile light green plaid will go perfect with denim or shorts, both on weekdays and weekends. I am loving the lone snap detail on the button placket - an unexpected sliver of uniqueness. The contrast stitch on the chest pocket makes for a simple yet effective detail.
The blue contrast fabric on the cuffs make for a wonderful way to play with color. You simply roll up your sleeves and there you have another color that both stands out and syncs with the rest of this shirt.
The cute snap closure on the cuffs is a great finishing touch - and the tiny blue starfish-looking snap just rounds up this great buy. And at US$55, it's quite friendly on your wallet!

I have always turned to Converse for most of my sneakers needs. I find them simple, classic and yet so on trend time and time again. And I wear them with everything from jeans, to shorts to tailored pants. That said, they do come in many different color variations; most of them too loud or garish for my tastes.
Hence, it's time to look outside my comfort zone a little to see what is out there. I found this while randomly surfing and I have to say that this pair of sneakers are growing on me.
Firstly, the navy shade reminds me of Summer, yachts and the sea. While normally I would like a contrast lace just for detail sake, I actually enjoy the fact that the same laces are of the same shade as the sneakers. They add a greater depth to the overall navy shade that will look great with both denim or tailored pants.
The crisp and fresh vibe from this pair of sneakers will look good all year round and at US$65, it's pretty affordable. Get this at Tobi.

White shirts are a perennial must-have in every man's wardrobe. Versatile and sharp as they may be, I do get a bit more tense when I wear white because I am a natural klutz and I spill things and break things and they usually end up on me. So on days when I feel like being unencumbered, I look toward my black shirts.
I love black and a big part of it is because stains don't show and you can really get away with so much more. This cool shirt from Artificial Flavor will be a great piece for a night on the town or for that hot date. The details on this shirt are hitting all the right notes too. The cool snap button closure on the collar gives an futuristic vibe that goes in sync with the light stitching at the chest of the shirt and the left pocket.
The trim detail at the cuffs is quiet and so unassuming; only visible to those who take a closer look or those really close to you. I like intimacy in my details and this checks that box.
Just like how it checks the wallet-friendly box. Get this for US$79 at Tobi.
Here at Style Flavors, we believe in having our cake and eating it too. We especially like pieces that have form, function and personality. Like this unique wallet from Obey.
The compact size means this fits into any shorts/pants pocket which is important because you do want to take this almost everywhere. The complimentary bottle opener will be much appreciated by anyone who swears by his 6-pack. The guitar pick holder provides a convenient storage for if you decide to have an impromptu campfire sing-along session.
I really like the belted button clasp that goes in and over the bottle opener; an ingenious way to play with detail and incorporate a bottle opener into a wallet. The treated leather gives this wallet a tough edge that highlights the the rock and roll vibe of this piece.
All for a very un-rock and roll price of US$57. Get this at Tobi.
Chinos are a great alternative to jeans; they are light weight, versatile and look less casual than denim. This pair from Sweden's Cheap Monday will take you places - from dinner dates to the movies to the supermarket.
The slim straight leg will look good with sneakers, dress shoes, boots and chukkas. What I like most is how you really can dress this up or down depending on the occasion and your mood. The V at the back of the belt loop adds a dash of subtle detail that compliments this classic, simple pair while the 100% cotton fabric means you can wear this no matter the temperature.

There are certain periods of time when I live in jeans; I wear them everywhere save for the gym. With sneakers, flip flops and dress shoes. This pair of black oxfords will go splendidly with jeans.
This trendy pair with its tonal stitching provides the right amount of quiet detail while the classic 5 eyelet lace-up front means you pretty much can take this anywhere; to the restaurant, the club, the movies or the house party. The stacked wooden heel rounds up this leather pair.
And at US$65, it's our steal for the week! Get this at Shoes.com.
Trench coats are classic pieces that get reinvented and released every season; they do cost more than the average jacket- but keeping warm and staying dry don't have to cost you an arm, here for our Thrifty Flavors segment, we strive to find pieces that are stylish, functional and wallet-conscious.
This double breasted trench comes in a modern slim fit that will be appreciated. Besides the great price, I am loving the overall slick vibe from this trench. From the buttons to the slant side pockets to the chest pockets, this will serve you well for many seasons. The pockets and cuffs are secured with Velcro closure instead of the more expensive option of buttons/belt tabs but for the price, it's still a great buy.
Be it with jeans or pants, this trench will provide a polished silhouette that will always be appreciated. Available in 2 colors - my vote is for the stone one.

It's neither PC nor kosher to say this but I do fancy exotic skins - from snake to ostrich to crocodile. When done right, they are investment worthy pieces that will stand the test of time and trends. That said, they are best consumed in small doses.
This pair of brown loafers will be a wonderful addition to your Summer wardrobe; pair this with shorts for a laid back, European vibe or you can dress them up for a night on the town. The genuine snakeskin in dark brown shade is classic and will take you through all the way.
The fine stitching and side seams add a sliver of detail that is quiet and modest. The easy slip on and off makes this a perfect travel companion. Day or night, this versatile pair will serve you well.

I love my Havaianas and I know I am not alone. From the country of sun, caiprihanas and beautiful bodies, these Brazilian flip-flops are soft, comfortable and perfect for every summer vacation.
They come in many varieties and colors but these 2 are my favorite picks. I am fan of lime green and this striking lime green and yellow sandwich strip adds a dose of detail that will brighten up dreary days.
They are also quite hardy; I've been everywhere with mine. And at US$22, you don't have to feel bad if they get too used.

I won't call myself a very green person but I do try very hard consciously to reduce my carbon footprint - I don't take plastic bags, I use reusable containers, I prefer walking if I can to my destination and I take public transport.
For those days when I need to run errands or for those vacation days when I spend lots of time by the private villa pool or by the beach, this lightweight, essential bag will definitely come in handy.
This is not just a beach bag - you can take it anywhere. I would fold this and place it in my everyday bag so just in case, I need to grab some groceries or do a bit of random shopping, this would be a green alternative to plastic or paper bags - It's large enough for everyday errands. It is 100% Polyamide so you can throw this into the washing machine when it gets dirty and reuse and reuse.
This would also make a great gift - available in 4 colors (Grey, Black, Orange and Pink), this will be one tote that is friendly not only to your wallet but also to the environment.

It hit me a couple of weeks ago that I should reorganize my wardrobe and I've come to the conclusion that I need more casual wear; pieces that I can throw on and get ready in 5 minutes. No fuss yet stylish and occasion suitable (whatever that may be).
That said, I like this striped shirt from J Crew; the classic navy blue and white stripes will be just right for those lazy weekends or days when you don't have to spend too much time at all on what you wear. With a more flattering tailored fit and a slimmer cut, pair this with shorts or jeans for those days when you just can't be bothered. Available in 2 colors - my vote is for the classic navy.

This shirt with its lighter contrast bib will be great for a night on the town or for dinner with your date.
For a casual downtown vibe, wear this fitted, tucked out with sleeves rolled up and denim. If you're going for a dressier vibe, wear this tucked into pants with sharp shoes. Either way, you've got a winning look.

Sale periods are the best time to get pieces for the upcoming season; since Spring is fast approaching, you can get your hands on winter pieces at discounted rates. Like these 2 scarfs, for example.
The black single strip scarf is simple, classic and stylish enough to hold its own. A no-fuss piece that you can wear with most everything. The white strip adds a quiet hit of contrast that won't go out of style.
The striped cashmere piece with black stripes over charcoal heather grey will be a good piece if you're in the mood for a sliver of detail. Pair this with solid colors - black, white, dark navy; for a dash of detail. The soft cashmere will be welcomed by your skin when you're trying to stay warm.
They are both on sale - get the single stripe scarf for US$32 US$21.90 at Nordstrom; and the stripe cashmere scarf for US$78 US$53.90 also at Nordstrom.
Our new thrifty flavors segment will feature stylish items that can be bought for a lot less than most items featured on this site. Though sometimes we run into difficulties (it is quite tough finding pieces under a certain price range), we're always on the look out.
This pair of slip-ons has just the right modern edge to jazz up an ordinary work outfit. The criss-cross overlay detail adds a subtle yet chic show of individuality. The square heels adds a bit of height that will always come appreciated. This will look good both with pants or jeans; at work or for a night on the town.
And at US$65, it's definitely worth considering. Get this at Shoes.com.

I am digging these Black MILAN BOOTS (US$179, was US$475); they are sleek and will compliment both your work and play wardrobes. The Dark Brown WILSHIRE BOOTS (US$179, was US$445) are a close second; with a side elastic-gore, they slip on and come off with ease. The Cafe LANCASTER WALLET (US$69, was US$195) is a wonderful and simple credit card case that you will use for years and years. There are certain colors that work for most people; grey is one such color and this great shirt in Pewter (a wonderful alternative to grey) will take you places.
This will look splendid pair with jeans and either sneakers or leather shoes. I am loving the contrast stitch detail at the pockets, seams and sides - they add a cool vibe to this shirt that will certainly be appreciated. The darker buttons also help bring out the more subtle detail like the chest pocket.
This is best worn fitted. Get this for US$80 at Zappos.
Thanks to Keith aka KjAM at Party Favorz who gave us the push we needed to create a Thrifty Flavors segment where we find chic, great pieces for alot less than the usual items we feature. In uncertain times comes the need for greater prudence and here at Style Flavors, we are all about that. Though it might take a while for us to ride through this recession, it's all good because being thrifty will never go out of style. And really at the end of the day, it's not how much your clothes cost, but how you put them together, carry them that matters and relate to people that matters.
These dark brown dress boots feature a 2 inch heel that might be a tad too ambitious for some of you. But we thought, what the heck, we love our limited-edition YSL 2.5 inch pair and really, 2 inches is not much at all.
The sleek pointed toe and the simple yet classic design of this boot stood out as a piece that you could wear and wear and that will not go out of style. Plus, they will look good both at work and play. So extra points for versatility. Wear them with jeans for a rock n roll influenced look or tailored pants for a dressy vibe. I like these because not only do they look good and would serve you well if you need to walk and sightsee, at a such a price point, you don't have to feel too bad about being hard on them.
