I dig it when fashion takes a dive into the edgier realm of expression and ever since the Givenchy store in Paris ran out of my size in Fall 09's bondage leather shoes, I have been thinking about bondage-influenced pieces ever since.

I remember when I was a kid, this hippie with long, braided hair used to be a friend of the family's. She was loud, vivacious and so full of stories and tricks. I used to be thrilled with her tales and amazed at just how much stuff she had whenever she came around.
What I remember most about her were her tie-dye outfits. True to her nature, she wore those tie-dye outfits religiously. So I've always associated tie-die outfits with fun and a little kooky-ness. When I was older, I knew I couldn't carry the whole tie-die hippie look - no matter how fun it looked.
But I could certainly carry off this dip-dyed tee. I am loving the overall contrast of this soft tee, with a white middle separating the two shades of grey. Poignant without overdoing it.
Wear this with denim or Bermudas, all year round for a casual, nonchalant look that is all yours. I like the tiny sliver of detail - the exposed seam down the center of the back. And like its inspired movement, this tee is 100% organic cotton.

It is quite tough to find tee shirts that can take you places, have interesting enough details and the right color shade. It's usually one or the other and it takes patience to get what you want sometimes. Haven't you been out looking for a particular product or clothing article and after hours and hours, still remain empty-handed?
I was recently tasked to help my BFF (private joke) find tee shirts because I am not the only with a tee shirt deficit in my wardrobe. He was quite specific - he wanted colors, good fit, durability and a price that won't make him think twice. I searched my usual joints to no avail so the search goes on.
I came across this during the search and even though this doesn't meet his criteria, I can see myself wearing this. Firstly, the simple white and grey stripped tee where the stripes are multi-directional makes this an easy choice for everyday wear.
What I like most is the black panel and the cute welt chest pocket. It's simple and yet interesting - nothing overdone, just contrast and an unexpected button detail. Now if only this came in blue...

Black is my favorite color and I know it's not technically a color - it's default but I reckon that since it has always been part of the color palette during all my Art classes, I think I can safely regard it as a color.
So that said, black tee shirts are one of my favorite things. They are easy, simple and so classic. And they are also great for clumsy individuals like myself - no visible spillage stains.
This cool tee from Kontorsion gets my vote for its unique design - the different phases of the moon. I don't know much about Astrology but I could certainly see this getting some attention and compliments. This lunar inspired tee will look cool with shorts, jeans and even pants.
Another neat little detail is the contrast white lining on this tee while the 100% Pima Cotton fabric ensures a super soft and comfortable tee that is great for all year round wear.

I've come to the conclusion that I need more tees; besides my regular American Apparel ones (which I love). Tees that are more dressed-up, unique and can hold their own in a social event or occasions one notch above casual.
This tee is calling out to me and I won't refuse. The stand-out factor is of course, the band of fabric that is connected to the patch pocket and runs through the back of the tee. It's not a in-your-face detail but a more layered and softer one and would, I can imagine, spark some curiosity.
There is also options in the way the band of fabric is slung - you can also have it wrap around the back for a relaxed hoop look. I appreicate the black option - I love black because I am a pretty clumsy person so with this, I don't have to think twice about food splatters or drink spills. The grey is stunning too and will provide an even greater contrast to the black band.
This is definitely going onto my Spring wishlist. Get the black version for US$245 at eLUXURY and the grey one at Aloha Rag.

Here at Style Flavors, we love checking out what up-and-coming designers are doing and the pieces they are creating. We got wind of Rochambeau's Spring 2009 Collection and we're digging these 2 pieces. Rochambeau is Egyptian for the popular game rock-paper-scissors. Which is very fitting because the 3 members met in 2007 at the Parsons senior thesis show, where that year's prestigious Golden Thimble winner Michael Venker met Joshua Cooper and Laurence Chandler. So like the traditional game, each of the three members brings their own individual strength to the table.
Joshua Cooper and Laurence Chandler take care of the business portion of the label while Michael Venker, Rochambeau's creative director, studied design at Parsons, and went on to intern at Marc Jacobs and Helmut Lang, and eventually worked at the Ermenegildo Zegna showroom. Through this time, he won the prestigious Golden Thimble award from Parsons and shortly thereafter was called one of the new young and upcoming designers to watch in Women's Wear Daily.
The draped jersey tee comes with an attached scarf that is versatile and flexible so you can play around with it and decide the best look for yourself. It's perfect for those lazy, causal days or a night on the town where you don't want to deal with a crumpled shirt. Wear this with jeans or pants, either way, it will look fresh and cool. Also available in black, white or cream. I need to get my hands on the black version.
The belt wrap swim shorts with its clean lines and unique front will certainly get you some attention. Think summer and all the weeks you will be spending in shorts so this would be a worthy investment. Despite it looking a tad complication, it is very easy to open the waist button. The zipper fly and the extra fabric gives enough to ensure using the restroom won't become a hassle.
Get the Jersey Tee for US$65 and the Swim Shorts for US$75 at the OAK store in New York. Unfortunately, you can't yet purchase them online, but give them a call at +1 212 677 1293 and ask them for their delivery options.
Surface To Air is a Paris-based fashion house that features frequent collaborations with various members of the art scene to create one-of pieces. Often seen on the backs of art directors and members of the advertising world, this is one underground brand that is gaining heat.
This color-block tee with its contrast color panes of white and black and its blue/grey stripes is just perfect for those casual days. Its attention to detail can be seen from the contrasting colored stripes on the sleeves.
Black, white, grey, dark blue. This is great for those days when you can't make up your mind on which color you would most prefer to wear. The laid-back yet cool vibe from this tee will go seamlessly with denim.

I've always wanted a tarantula for a pet ever since I was 8. I never gotten that wish fulfilled - they were just simply too difficult to find and I was too young to go venture into the black market alone to search for a spider.
That said, I like spiders - I think they are mysterious and quite cool. Needless to say, I am strangely drawn to this Lanvin tee and its spider motif.
The grey of the spider goes perfectly with the 100% cotton black tee. There is no label, no logo - just a kick-ass spider. Wear this with jeans and boots on the weekend or dress it up a level by layering it over a white shirt. Either way, this tee will speak for itself.

I am a huge fan of American Apparel's soft, comfortable, fitting tees. I buy a bunch of them at one go and I wear them out like there is no tomorrow. I also take them everywhere and either wear them on their own or use them for a layered look.
I am digging this space scape jersey tee with its unique sci-fi, paint splatter design that will look good on its own or underneath a shorter top. The paint splatter will add a dash of detail and color to your overall layered look. And because it is soft and light, you don't have to worry about breaking out in sweat when you're selectively piling on your layers!
If you're build small, you will appreciate how most of their items come in XS. In fact, my American Apparel tees are probably the only items I don't need to send to my tailor to have them taken in.

This striped long sleeve tee from Balenciaga features a boat neck which is not something you see often. But you can wear this tee on its own or wear it as an outer layer over a shirt or a polo. Either way, this tee with its trendy tape-like (seen on items from Dolce & Gabanna and Martin Margiela) stripes will be just right for fall. Get this for US$469.23 from Diabro.
This simple yet classic tee shirt from Dior Homme features a neat cross-stitched seam that encircles the neck and sides of the tee, adding a stylish detail trail. Also available in Navy but my vote's for this in grey. Get this for US$330 at eLUXURY.

This zig zag tee (like most every American Apparel tees) is great for layering or wearing it on its own. With a cute horizontal zig zag pattern, this tee will go far. Get this at American Apparel for US$22.
I dig their 50-50 poly cotton blend tees, they fit slimmer and are longer than the other regular cotton tees from AA. Available in various colors, this range of tees will be perfect for summer! They are US$16 each.
If you are looking for slim fitting and body hugging tees, the tri-cotton range will be perfect. They run a little small so if you do want to wear them singularly, then go one size up. I bought XS and they are a tad tight and short to wear on their own but perfect for layering. So just something to take note of if you're interested. They go for US$20 each.
I immediately smiled when I saw this tee. Check out this cute t-shirt off Yves Saint Laurent's Autumn/Winter 08 line. This fun t-shirt features a retro black and white slimming print ad with its own cut out coupon! :-) Get it for US$194.12 at Diabro.
