I remember my first Sony Walkman - I got it when I was 9 and I thought it was the bomb and I would take it everywhere. Of course, I had to carry around 5 different tapes for variety but I remembered thinking that it was all so cool. It was cool until the film of my tapes got tangled and jumbled, then it was just game over for me. I was good at fast-forwarding and back-tracking to specific songs and I did it so much that I worn out all my tapes. Gosh, how did we ever cope without the repeat function?

R.E.M frontman, Michael Stipe, who also happened to write several soundtracks of my youth, played designer for Maison Martin Margiela. The result is a highly versatile, cassette-tape inspired piece. It can be worn or used according to your mood - on your wrist one day, tied to your boots the next, worn as a necklace or used to hold your keys. Plenty of possibilities.

This cool, limited-edition piece (only 199 made) comes with a handmade notebook individually numbered and personally signed by Michael Stipe. I'll go all the way to Reno for one of this......

Karl Lagerfeld, fashion kaiser, shot a spread for the latest issue of VMAN (out in stores November 16th) showing off next season's immaculate tailoring from Yves Saint Laurent, Lanvin, Versace, Comme des Garcons Homme, Dries Van Noten, Dolce and Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo.

The theme being Gentlemen Of Leisure - wealth, power, desirable clothing. But don't look on in envy but instead let it serve as an inspiration. After all, we all start from somewhere....

Armani Exchange holds a spot in my sartorial heart. It was the first designer label that I could afford in high school and I was a sucker for their pima cotton tees and slim-fitting jackets. They have certainly come a long way from when I was 15.

Armani Exchange, the younger, trendy sibling of Emporio and Giorgio Armani, has always incorporated music and nightlife culture into its sexy campaigns. Now, with the launch of A/X:TV, which gives a closer look into the world of Armani Exchange - behind-the-scenes of ad campaign shoots, video podcasts, campaign model diaries and exclusive interviews with the world's hottest DJs.

Stream and watch it all anywhere and anytime - get clued in on how it all goes down - from inspirations to execution. It's all happening at Armani Exchange

Truely Madly DatingConde Nast - home of Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair, Tatler has increased its online presence with the launch of TRULYMADLYDATING.COM, an online dating site catered to like minded Voguettes and GQers. For starters, this could work well: having a common love for style, fashion and design. That makes for a good conversation starter.

No more awarkard first date conversations and silence. And if all goes well and you reach the ultimate point, the bride doesn't have to justify her need for a Vera Wang gown and the groom a Dior Homme suit.

Now that sounds like a match made in Vogue heaven.

Margiela In Name Only
Rumors of Martin Margiela stepping down from his namesake brand has been floating around for months. It is no longer a rumor but a truth. Maison Martin Margiela is no longer directly involved in the designing of his brand - this is confirmed by Renzo Rosso; founder of Diesel who in 2002 bought a majority share in Maison Martin Margiela.

This is beyond sad. Martin Margiela is a visionary at the forefront of his craft. I never fail to be amazed and thrilled by his pieces. I don't know if the Maison Martin Margiela brand is going to mean as much now that Margiela himself has stepped down. It wouldn't be the same and only time will tell if the new team can fill the huge gapping void that his departure would cause.

It's time to start hunting for pieces designed by Margiela himself - they are going to increase in value faster than you can say 'In Name Only'.

Alexander Wang
Japanese retailers have ranked Alexander Wang as the hottest designer brand at the moment. Wang scored double the votes of runner-up Givenchy. The next 8 in the top ten (in order) were, Balmain, Undercover, Prada, Dries Van Noten, 3.1 Philip Lim, Comme des Garcons and Yves Saint Laurent.

The French retailers, on the other hand, have given top ranking to brands closer to home. Lanvin first, Balenciaga second and Dries Van Noten third.

Tom Ford's directorial debut, A Single Man, tells the story of a gay man in midlife coping with the death of his partner. The trailer is exquisite, sans spoken words with a terrifyingly compelling score. The imagery is beautiful and from the looks of it, the performances from the actors too.

I can't wait to catch this for myself but till then, I'm going to watch this again and again.

Jil Sander - Only A Click Away
You will be able to buy Jil Sander's menswear (including runway pieces), accessories, eye wear, fragrances from tomorrow on the Jil Sander website. Powered by YOOX, this is convenience at its best. 24/7 shopping at the convenience of your own home is something that I dig big time.

In other related news, the designer herself, Jil Sander for Uniqlo's collection will be out in Uniqlo stores tomorrow. Head to Men.Style.com for a small preview of the collection.

10 Rules Of Style: Gianluca Isaia
Gianluca Isaia, honcho of his namesake made-to-measure tailoring house, shared with Details his 10 rules of style. They run the gamut from the importance of enjoying food, living right to great sex.

His rules resounded and here are my favorites:

"When I eat pasta or mozzarella di bufala, I chew extra hard to get in some exercise. I'm joking, but the point is I still enjoy food and I still look after myself. You need to be in shape, but don't be obsessed with your body. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy."

"Do things the way they should be done or don't do them at all. When I go to Miami, I'd rather spend three days in a beautiful hotel and eat in great restaurants than spend 10 days in a mediocre motel, eating in so-so restaurants. If I'm going to do something, I have to do it right. "

'"The biggest fashion mistake men make is to follow the rules of other men. Make your own rules--don't follow mine."

How true!

The Beatles
Rei Kawakubo
The beauty of Comme des Garcons and Rei Kawakubo's genius is that you never know just what to expect. And Comme des Garcons' latest collaboration is a perfect example - it is teaming up with Apple Corp Ltd. (the company managing the works and music catalog of the Fab Four) to create a collection of bags.

I can only wonder just how it's going to turn out, are albums going to be a source of inspiration and if so, which ones? Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club? Abbey Road? I am excited and very intrigued.

The collection will hit Dover Street Market (Rei Kawakubo's emporium in London) and Gyre in Tokoyo middle of November with subsequent distribution after. The deal made between Apple and Comme is a long term one so it might expand into pieces on your back like tees. How cool.

Hedi Slimane And Robert Pattison
Hedi Slimane And Robert Pattison more
Vampires have become the new wizards; thanks to my favorite show of the moment True Blood and of course, the Twilight franchise. I am more of a True Blood person gravitating towards the dark, erotic, accurate, humorous undertones of the hit HBO series. But even though the vampires in Twilight (or maybe only Robert Pattinson) sparkle in the sunlight, it is entertaining and I am looking forward to the release of New Moon (not as much as Eclipse - more ass-kicking).

The original maverick who started off the whole dark trend, Hedi Slimane got behind the lens to shoot the cover and spread for the upcoming issue of AnOther. They are a great fit - Hedi Slimane got the kind of attention for his work for Dior Homme from the fashion crowd (albeit with less raging hormones) that Robert Pattinson is now getting from well, suburban mothers to their daughters to their sons.

Which makes me wonder: does that mean this issue from Jefferson Hack and company will be snapped up by all the adoring fan-girls and boys? Very smart move. Issue will hit stores October 1st.

Annie Leibovitz
Damien Hirst
In conjunction with Louis Vuitton's Asnieres division (the made-to-order luggage arm of LV), the French fashion giant has invited (among others) iconic photographer Annie Leibovitz and art world bad boy Damien Hirst to create one-of-a-kind pieces.

Inspired by her job naturally, Annie Leibovitz has op-ed for a canvas backpack with microfiber compartments for her photography equipments. Damien Hirst has requested for a black trunk lined with blue microfiber and multiple slim drawers, designed to hold surgical instruments. Holding surgical instruments is not something you hear of everyday - it's intriguing and bad-ass.

Marc Jacobs has asked for a travel trunk for his 2 bull terriers. With a wide door, large vents and space for a photo of him and some clothing article of his to help calm his beloved pooches while they travel; this has got one of the best ways man's best friend can travel.

The pieces from this collaboration will be auctioned off at Sotheby's in London on November 17 to aid the Red Cross.

Rick Owens, king of the goth movement for the fashion pack is extending his scope on the world of furniture. It seems like a natural progression for designers - Ralph Lauren did it and so did Calvin Klein and Giorgio Armani. Maison Margiela recently jumped on the bandwagon so having a furniture collection could just be the next diffusion line.

With antlers on his plywood and materials such as fur, leather, marble and shearling - this wouldn't be your run of the mill collection. After all, would you expect anything less from Mr Owens?

Maison Martin Margiela book
Maison Martin Margiela is coming to a book store near you. Set to be released sometime next month, this starched white muslin book will contain shots of his illusive career. With contributions from fashion luminaries such as Jean Paul Gaultier and Carine Roitfeld, this book will also showcase Maison Margiela's forward-moving and often avant garde exhibitions.

With his furniture line and now this book, Maison Margiela is slowly but surely making his way not just to your wardrobe but your book-shelf and your home. That works for me - I could always use more Margiela in my life.

Mr: Roland Mouret sweater
Mr: Roland Mouret jeans
Roland Mouret has over the past seasons garnered a cult like following. Hence it is not surprising his decision to extend that to menswear that jumps beyond himself as fodder. Mr, the Roland Mouret line (launched next year) isn't simply just a brand extension but a project resonated from a  meticulous thought process.

His love for clean, sleek lines and simplicity can be seen in the above jeans and croc-printed sweater. For a snippet of what to expect from the upcoming line, head to Dover Street Market in London and 10 Corso Como in Tokyo; both have a capsule collection of key pieces: knits, shirts, jeans. The new Ipod Nano
So there is about 4-5 iPods lying around the house and I can't think of going by a day without music or without my iPod. I take it everywhere and I got a Nano for the gym earlier this year and though I have to deal with space constrains, I still take it everywhere because of how small and slim it is. Completely handy and portable.

So Apple recently announced all the new features that the new generation of ipod Nanos will come equipped with and it really reads like a solid list! From video camera to FM tuners where you can pause (live!) at any stage to voice recorders to a pedometer (an application that counts every step you take - perfect for workout buffs).

And that's not all - it looks better too with its polished anodized aluminum finish! And I just love items with both style and substance.

I am really looking forward to the day that they pack 120GB into the size of a Nano. Now, that would be my dream.
Jimmy Choo For H&M jackets
Jimmy Choo For H&M boots
Jimmy Choo's first foray into menswear will be with its upcoming collaboration with high-street giant H And M. I first heard about this months ago and my first thought was 'Jimmy Choos and leather jacket?' But judging from these leaked pictures, the line looks promising. Functional and clean.

I love H And M's designer collaborations and I very much look forward to checking the collection out when it debuts November 14.

Tom Ford's first foray in the director's seat is something I have been anticipating on and off ever since I first heard he was putting his touch on "A Single Man", a film based on the novel by Christopher Isherwood.

WWD has an interview with the man famous for splashing sex on billboards and into his collections for Gucci and YSL and of course, his own line.

I am looking forward to catching this. Are you?

Time Style And Design
The New York Post reported that Time magazine has decided to put a stop to the production of its quarterly, Time Style And Design. The current state of the economy and the subsequent  loss of consumer confidence is to be blamed.

A spokeswoman of Time did state that this really is a halt in production and would be revived when things pick up, Which is fantastic news because I always look forward to this quarterly issue. It shows fashion and travel from a different journalistic angle and that would be sorely missed.

Here's hoping everything picks up soon!

Spanning all countries with a Vogue edition, this will be a fun, memorable event to say the least.

If you can, go shop with your favorite designers and get tips from beauty editors. But even if you don't buy anything, it would still be fun to head out to feel the buzz and the excitement of this global initiative.

Little Miss Marc
The Marc By Marc Jacobs store on South Audley Street will feature the new collection, entitled 'Don't Miss The Marc'. I've always been a fan of Marc By Marc Jacobs - it's fun, quirky and allows everyone to have a piece of something from Marc Jacobs at a more affordable price range.

Plus, the new collection will see the return of William Broome's iconic Miss Marc character - a chick who pretty much is her own person.

Tommy & Peter?
Vogue UK is reporting the latest water-cooler talk that Peter Som; former Creative Director of Bill Blass, is reportedly being courted by Tommy Hilfiger for a part-time creative consultant basis.

If that is true then that is good news. I am always up for change and I am very interested to see where this will take the Hilfiger brand. Time will tell...
