Vampires have become the new wizards; thanks to my favorite show of the moment True Blood and of course, the Twilight franchise. I am more of a True Blood person gravitating towards the dark, erotic, accurate, humorous undertones of the hit HBO series. But even though the vampires in Twilight (or maybe only Robert Pattinson) sparkle in the sunlight, it is entertaining and I am looking forward to the release of New Moon (not as much as Eclipse - more ass-kicking).
The original maverick who started off the whole dark trend, Hedi Slimane got behind the lens to shoot the cover and spread for the upcoming issue of AnOther. They are a great fit - Hedi Slimane got the kind of attention for his work for Dior Homme from the fashion crowd (albeit with less raging hormones) that Robert Pattinson is now getting from well, suburban mothers to their daughters to their sons.
Which makes me wonder: does that mean this issue from Jefferson Hack and company will be snapped up by all the adoring fan-girls and boys? Very smart move. Issue will hit stores October 1st.

The upcoming September issue of Interview is fronted by the one and only Natalie Portman. I adore this lady and she is the number chick-to-dig in my book. Hands down. I don't have to go into the obvious details - beauty, brains, class, consciousness for world/people around her.
When I first heard about this, I planned a trip to Borders just to get my hands on this. Look at her - she's just killing it! Turns out my trip was futile because there were only going to stock this issue in the middle of September. Oh well, I did try!
On a different note, I had a dream once about her. In my dream, we were best friends in college - we did everything together and because of her connections, we also went to fashion shows together and then the dream started becoming a nightmare because without any reason, she started to avoid me and she just refused to acknowledge me - and well, I refused to accept it and my attempts at getting her to explain her 360 degree change in behavior were futile. And then my alarm rang. It was so vivid and I didn't really know what to make of it - it's probably telling me to get my head of out the clouds. She and me; best friends? Never.

I am not a modelizer in the sense of the word, even though I love fashion. And models and fashion are like cellphones and batteries; they just work together. Aside from Travis Fimmel (my high school scent was CK's Crave), Gabriel Aubry (baby daddy of Halle Barry) and Rodrigo Santoro (Charlie Angles 2's beach scene); I don't really know anymore male models by name.
The very recent launch of HERO is about to change that. Featuring the faces of tomorrow that will be ubiquitous on the catwalks and the campaigns on the billboards you see on your way to work, the premise of this magazine is to shine a spotlight on these up and coming individuals.
Working alongside the crème de la crème of modeling agencies - including Models 1, Storm, Select, Major Models, Re:Quest, Red and VNY; this twice-annual magazine features both candid and posed photographs, interviews and a general closer look into their lives. From their aspirations to their favorite hang-out jaunts.
Sure, it might all seem a tad indulgent and it's not as if models need any more spotlight but admit it, you want to read on and honestly, how many times have you goggled to find out more about THAT one model? HERO compacts it all and provides a convenient way to have that information anytime, anywhere.
