I am constantly in and out of air-conditioned environments daily and as such, my skin gets dry and it could look better. I picked this up because of because of the claim of body butter ribbons. I thought, what do I have to lose?I love partying - especially the social and drinking aspect of it. More drinking but that's another story for another time. Summer is here and there is no better season to party than when the weather is warm and the day seems longer.
Smelling good and fresh is fundamental because just like no one likes a smelly shopper, no one likes a smelly party-goer too. But with heat and humidity, even the best of us sweat and don't smell as good as we should or like.
Hence, I am always interested in grooming products that would enhance my partying experience and when I first heard about Axe Fixers, I was more than ready to give them a try.
Axe Fixers are a new range of products specially formulated to help guys get through parties, after-parties and the morning after. With 4 different shower gels (Fever, Shock, Recovery & Snake Peel) and 3 body sprays (Fever, Shock & Recovery); they all serve you in different ways. The shower gels and the deodorant body sprays complement each other to keep you going throughout the night and make for a longer, lasting effect.

Shock, with extracts of glacier water and deep sea mint, helps to wake you up with its menthol effect. This is the most masculine smelling of the bunch and I use this whenever I need a burst of refreshment from all the heat or when I know I am going to a few parties that night. Get this for US$4.93 (12oz/354ml) at Amazon.com and the AXE Deodorant Body Spray, Shock for US$4.99 (4oz/113g).

Fever, with its red dragonfruit (a tropical fruit found in South East Asia) and Brazilian hot mud extract is the most unique smelling of the bunch. It's supposed to ignite the desire for all things sexy. It didn't exactly do that but I find myself being enticed by this scent. I would sniff my arms (discretely, of course) just to try to pinpoint what exactly is in this. The scent doesn't last as long as the rest but I like the body spray more than the shower gel and I would the deodorant spray on its own when I run out of the showergel. Get the AXE Fever Shower Gel, Brazilian Hot Mud + Red Dragonfruit Extract (12oz/354ml) (US$5.49) and the AXE Deodorant Body Spray, Fever
(US$4.99) (4oz/113g).
Recovery, with its lime green color and energizing electrolytes, is one of my favorite product of the range. I love its fresh smell - part citrus and all fresh. I use this in the mornings and it helps give me a boost or after the gym where it helps keep me going at work or at the dinner party. I used this a bunch of time before heading out for drinks and the very uplifting scent makes this a good start for the day or night. Get the Recovery Shower Gel for US$4.81 (12oz/354ml) at Amazon.com and the AXE Deodorant Body Spray, Recovery (US$4.99) (4oz/113g).
Snake Peel, is my other favorite product from the range. The extracts of desert minerals and catus oil work to gently exfoliate your skin removing dead skin cells and grime (so you can use this daily) to reveal fresher, cleaner skin and the invigorating scent makes this worth trying. The first time I used this, my Nanny commented from the kitchen just how great it smelled. I was in the bathroom and she was in the kitchen and she could smell it. I use this in-between my weekly exfoliation sessions and it helps keep my skin in healthy form. Get the Snake Peel Shower Scrub for US$4.56 (12oz/354ml) at Amazon.com.
The affordable price tags and the compelling scents make this range worth trying. Party on!

I picked this up at Safeway last year and I have to admit the only reason why I did so was because of the claim of skin luminosity. They had me at radiance. I didn't think it would do much to make me 'glow' and that it was all a marketing ploy. I was however, trying to see if the placebo effect was any more luminescent. It was when I was replying to en email after a shower that I noticed tiny specks of what appeared to be glitter on my arms. I thought it strange because I couldn't have rubbed against anything glittery (insert obvious joke here) between the 5 mins after the shower. I then realized it was all over my legs and body. It was the body wash.
According to Olay, this body wash has an actual ribbon of moisturizer with glucosamine complex and skin brighteners. It has pigments that help improve the skin's ability to reflect light. Hence the glittery effect. I know people who have tried this product and they are the bread and butter of waxing parlors and they still see specks of shiny stuff on the tips of their body hair after a shower.
Of course, you have to look closely but hey at US$4.99 (10oz/295ml); what more can you ask for? Get it at drugstores or supermarkets.
