Jil Sander Leather Ipod Holder

Jil Sander Leather Ipod Holder details
I remember storing my very first ipod in a pair of ankle socks. That was many years ago and there were no sleek accessories out for the ipods back then and I just started college so I didn't have that kind of excess money to spend on extra accessories.

Fast forward to now and there are a plethora of ipod accessories; so much so that you are literally spoiled for choice. But this Jil Sander piece is one of the better ones that I have seen so far. The black leather is classic and the shape/structure of this holder clean and defined; nothing fussy - just sleek and functional.

The light printed label namesake is subtle and refined; so much more than an old pair of ankle socks. How far we've come!

I remember my first Sony Walkman - I got it when I was 9 and I thought it was the bomb and I would take it everywhere. Of course, I had to carry around 5 different tapes for variety but I remembered thinking that it was all so cool. It was cool until the film of my tapes got tangled and jumbled, then it was just game over for me. I was good at fast-forwarding and back-tracking to specific songs and I did it so much that I worn out all my tapes. Gosh, how did we ever cope without the repeat function?

R.E.M frontman, Michael Stipe, who also happened to write several soundtracks of my youth, played designer for Maison Martin Margiela. The result is a highly versatile, cassette-tape inspired piece. It can be worn or used according to your mood - on your wrist one day, tied to your boots the next, worn as a necklace or used to hold your keys. Plenty of possibilities.

This cool, limited-edition piece (only 199 made) comes with a handmade notebook individually numbered and personally signed by Michael Stipe. I'll go all the way to Reno for one of this......

Etre Touchy Gloves

Etre Touchy Gloves charcoal
I've always had sweaty palms and even during Winter, my palms still get sweaty occassionally. Wearing gloves help but they get in the way of texting and keying in directions in the GPS. That problem is a thing of the past, thanks to these Etre Touchy Gloves .

These gloves keep your hands warm during winter while allowing you unrestricted finger access to your electronic toys by means of the opening on the thumb and index finger glove slot. So no more fumbling around and deleting misspelled text or worrying about leaving smudges on your gadgets.

It comes in a variety of colors but my pick is for the black and charcoal version. Fingerless gloves were prominent a couple of seasons ago - so this looks pretty geek chic. It makes for a good Christmas gift too!

Burberry Leather Triple Wrap Watch
I am not a jewellery person, I don't wear bracelets or necklaces or chains. I do appreciate them and I think that I can get into them; just not at this point in time.

That said, I love double-duty pieces. Just like this gorgeous watch. I am digging the simplicity of it. The black face with white numerals and dial with the surrounding antique-gold plating case is classic. The triple wrap design takes this to a whole other level - it resonates perfectly with the military-inspired watch while giving a modern boost that is fresh and spot on.

This would look good both dressed up or down and it would provide its own platform for detail and attention. It's like getting a watch and a leather bracelet all in one. And I am really into this.

Ann Demeulemester Rosette Broche
Ann Demeulemester Rosette Broche detail
There have been times on tee-shirts and jeans days where I felt like I needed something more to add to my basic tee. A pin or a broche would fill the void and add detail to a plain tee.

This brings me to this broche. I like how this looks - the black and white contrast is simple and universal while the rose design will add punch to a basic colored tee. And you can also use this on blazers and jackets and play with detail.

However, on further inspection, I noticed that this piece has a cluster of small bells attached to it and that can be a walking annoyance. I get irritated when people attach bells and chains to their keys and phones and bags thinking it's cute. But when they walk, these silly bells start to jingle and create this bugging noise with every step they take.

Which is a shame because I appreciate the aesthetic of this piece but I simply can't get over the fact that this jingles. Get this for US$90 at Aloha Rag

3.1 Philip Lim Kanvas Bag 3.1 Philip Lim Kanvas Bag detail 3.1 Philip Lim Kanvas Bag handleI am a huge fan of totes with shoulder straps - they come in extremely handy when running errands; leaving your hands free to do whatever needs to be done. I love my Marni everyday bag and I take it everywhere. My only complain is that the leather handles have come undone or rather, unglued. I expected the quality to be better and I have to say that I am a tad disappointed. The problem could have been easy avoided if they had just stitched the handles instead of applying adhesive.

Which is what this great bag from 3.1 Philip Lim has. Philip Lim is one of my favorite new designers and I buy his pieces every season. They are stylish, functional and full of subtle details. This bag cements that statement.

The orange stitched handle is a fresh contrast to the dark navy of the bag. A wonderful play on color that will be a bright hit all year round - especially during the dark, colder months. I am particularly loving the studded clasp on the strap. It adds a cool, edgy, unexpected detail that fits in perfectly with the vibe of this bag.

The leather exterior makes for a sleek finish and will look right for both work and play. Get this for US$545 at Aloha Rag.
