Here at Style Flavors, we can always get behind a good cause and Alternative Apparel has launched a T-Shirt Recycling Program at its flagship store in Venice, California benefitting the local social service agency Upward Bound House. Starting today, Alternative will encourage shoppers to donate their gently used t-shirts in exchange for a 15% in-store discount for each tee donated, up to two items per visit.
Located in Santa Monica, Upward Bound House is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating homelessness among families with children. Since 1991, members of the social service agency have helped low-income families and seniors by providing them with housing, supportive services and encouragement needed to lead an enriched, empowered and independent life. Their latest housing installment is a renovated motel in Culver City, which will be used as an emergency and short-term facility for families with minor children in times of crises.
“We admire Upward Bound House’s mission to help families and seniors in need,” said Alternative CEO Evan Toporek. “This T-Shirt Recycling Program comes at a time when giving back is especially important. We want our customers to be able to spread the holiday cheer and support their community in any way they can.”
Alternative’s T-Shirt Recycling Program officially kicks off today at the brand’s Venice Beach flagship store located at 1337 Abbot Kinney Blvd. In addition to t-shirts, charitable customers may bring in various clothing items; any amount and type of attire is welcome. All clothing collected during the program will be donated to Upward Bound House at the completion of the program on January 31, 2012.
