For A/W2011, English heritage brand Alan Paine has introduced a limited edition capsule collection inspired by George Mallory’s attempt to conquer Mount Everest. The English Explorer Collection features luxurious knitwear in soft cashmere, merino and lambswool.
George Mallory was a loyal Alan Paine customer and the brand has decided to celebrate the famous explorer and mountaineer with a range of clothing influenced by what Mallory wore on the last and ill fated Everest attempt. From direct photographic evidence Alan Paine have been able to reconstruct a number of garments used by Mallory and other members of the expedition.
What better way to commemorate an outstanding individual’s achievement and way of life than sartorially? The five piece capsule collection features Hailshame, a soft 100% Merino wool cardigan with wooden toggles and a water resistant Teflon coating: a timeless garment that will provide style and comfort in the winter days. Warm sweaters come with zip and button details and there is also a sharp V neck with a stylish shawl neck. The Albourne is a workwear influenced jacket style cardigan with full zip front and chest pockets which can be used as an outwear piece.
This special range has a classic touch that is commendable and its modern leanings make this a collection to check out. Retail prices start at £135.
